We're having some performance issues with our CPPM master publisher. The supplied OVA file is based upon the VmWare Version 7 spec which limits you to 8 cpu cores. If we upgrade the spec to version 8, which lets you add more cores to VM, will it break anything?

Personally I would do a backup and restore. Instead of trying to upgrade the VM. I have had a few customers do what you are suggesting and had no issues but that doesnt mean that you wont. I would just feel more comfortable backing up the VM. Create a new VM from OVF and then restore. You will need to have TAC move the lic, but it takes the unknow out of the loop.

    So, You'd recommend

    back up VM

    build brand spanking new vm

upgrade that VM to Version 8

    Add new number of cores

    restore stuff into new VM

    sort out licensing

    Just checking
