The HP and Aruba vision…it has the Magic touch
Jack Johnson once sang, “it’s better when we’re together”, and at HP and Aruba we believe it’s true! Together we have a winning combination to meet the customer needs of how tomorrow moves. Most recently, Gartner has positioned the combined company, Aruba Networks, an HP company, furthest to the right in completeness of vision and named us a “leader” in the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for the Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure (authors: Tim Zimmerman, Bill Menezes, Andrew Lerner), published on September 1, 2015. This is the 4th straight year that both companies have been positioned as a leader. And if you include the prior Gartner Magic Quadrant for the Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure reports, it is 10 years running as a “leader” in the Magic Quadrants for Aruba.

What does vision mean to you? Well, to HP, Aruba and Gartner, vision means the ability to convincingly articulate current and future market directions, innovation, customer needs, and competitive forces. It’s clear we’re simpatico and we believe the latest Magic Quadrant for wired and wireless LAN crystallizes our leadership.
When I looked at the report, I saw the following trends when reviewing this year and prior years:
- To me, it’s a two horse race with only HP/Aruba and one other vendor in the leader's quadrant with a huge separation from the other players.
- HP/Aruba is a clear leader in terms of its vision – I believe this is critical as customers look to embrace and enable the digital workplace that requires a fusion of technologies from wireless to wired, location and security.
- HP/Aruba continues to rise on the execution and vision axes.
Why does the Magic Quadrant matter, you might ask? It is a great resource for enterprises to consult as Gartner performs a thorough job in evaluating vendors to determine the leader that they will partner with to mobilize their enterprise. A lot of research and analysis goes into the evaluation of the vendors and determining their vision for the future and ability to execute. This involves extensive surveys conducted with vendors, technology demos, customer reference calls, fact checks, input from customer inquiries and I’m sure lots of caffeine to plow through the data and briefings with vendors and customers.
Combined Vision For How Tomorrow Moves
There is a “tsunami of change” hitting IT. As business embraces cloud technologies, the explosion of mobile continues and IoT devices permeate the workplace, IT can be faced with many headaches if not prepared. As customers embrace these mobile and cloud technologies to enable the digital workplace for how tomorrow moves, wired and wireless networks must work together and shift away from the old, static “port-based” network and towards a dynamic software-defined network.
In delivering a solution for how tomorrow moves in the digital workplace, HP and Aruba have combined their leading products into the following mobile-first campus product set. These products combine wired and wireless, location-based context, software defined networking, policy management and multivendor management technologies to automate your network while enabling robust delivery of business apps and infusing mobile context. The products work together to ensure the delivery of a utility-grade network that is always-on.
