Top wireless LAN influencers and the Aruba development team got together at our Santa Clara headquarters for a great Friday afternoon discussion as part of Mobility Field Day. We had lively interactions about the WLAN technologies that will become the foundation to power and secure next-generation mobility and IoT applications.

 

Mobility Field Day delegates spent three days talking about wireless LAN technology. See below for a deep dive into Aruba’s sessions.

Ash Chowdappa (@Ash), VP and GM of Wireless LAN at Aruba kicked off with a discussion of why organizations need a smart network platform to power mobility and IoT experiences.

 

Eric Johnson (@Ejohnson ), director of product management at Aruba, gave a sneak preview of the Aruba AP387, an outdoor 802.11ac/802.11ad point-to-point access point, as the hurricane was bearing down on North Carolina.

Onno Harms (@onno), director of product management at Aruba, took everyone through how the upcoming Aruba 802.11ax access points will improve the user experience, especially in dense client environments.

Chuck Lukaszweski (@Chuck_Lukaszewski,) VP of wireless strategy and standards at HPE, discussed why Wi-Fi security needs an upgrade, and how WPA3 and Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE) will help.

With the power of espresso and the thoughts of happy hour ahead, we finished the afternoon strong with Aruba’s Jose Tellado (@josetellado), Larry Lunetta (@LarryLunetta) and Viswesh Ananthakrishnan with a discussion about AI-powered network assurance and security, including NetInsight and IntroSpect.
