    aruba mobilty access switch is a standalone device? can it control the traffic and the APs?

    Our Aruba Mobility controller acts as an aggregation point of Data Plane and/or Control Plane.  It's used for aggregating Aruba access points.

     

    The Mobility access switch in our solution-set is used to bring wired EDGE users and provide them with the similar experience as to what they would have over Aruba access points.     Aruba Mobility access switches can also aggregate up to Aruba controllers in a similar fashion as Aruba access points do.

    Dear,

     

    would you provide us with an example topology. Could you write two examples. One for for example 7010 controller (12 ports with integ. switch) and another with 7280 (512-2048APS).

    As I understand, it is like follows:

    We have for example 10 APs on first, 10 APs on second, and 10 APs on third switch. All three switches are than conneccted to Controller such as 7010.

    However, I have found some PowerPoint presentations, which says 72080 supports 512 - 2048 APs. What is meant by that? For each switch that amount, or in total? Can we connect directly APs to Mobility Controllers and does anybody do it?

    The MAS brings a lot of the controller functionality (user roles, policy, etc) from the controller to the wired edge allowing you to have a unified access policy across the network whether wired or wireless.

    Let's back this up a bit.  What are you looking to do, install, architect, etc...?  Think of the access switch as an IDF edge L2/3 switch (with a mobility slant).  The controller is meant for APs mostly but serves other puposes and may not be a necessity depending on your requirements.  We also have Aruba Instant which virtualizes some of the controller's functions into our APs.  That coupled with the access switch really delivers a fantastic solution for smaller deployments.
