Wireless Access

Hello all,

I am working at a university and we are planning the wireless coverage based in a new large dining hall.

We were curious about the effective client recommendations for a few types of APs.

30x, 31x, 32x 33x and also the 37x outdoor APs. Any help would be appreciated.

I understand there is a hard-limit of 256 clients per radio (or more on the high-end models), but in practice, these numbers aren't seen. What do you all recommend for a general range of connected clients for these types of APs?

There is a row "Max number of associated clients per radio (limit tunnel mode / limit other modes / limit recommended, AES centralized)".  Check out the recommended number.

Could you briefly elaborate on the difference between 320 and 330 series please?

According to the datasheet, the 330 series supports 5gig ethernet and consumes more power.  The 330 series also supports hitless power failover on both of its gigabit eithernet ports (if you decide to provide poe to both ports at the same time).  Very few people deploy dual gigabit ethernet to access points due to cost.

To be succint, the 325 and 335 APs can support more users due to more cpu (75 realistic maximum).  What it does not avoid is the fact that wireless is a shared mechanism and if you add more users, your bandwidth will be divided among connected users.  Please take a look at the methodology in the "High Density wireless for Auditoriums" 802.11ac High Density Validated Reference Design Guide here: http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Validated-Reference-Design/Very-High-Density-802-11ac-Networks-Validated-Reference-Design/ta-p/230891 based on your scenario.  It exhaustively goes into possible planning for your deployment.
