    Hi,

     I have an 8 port Alcatel 6450 PoE/PoE+ Switch with a power budget of 120W. I would like to know the power required by AP225 to work in .11ac with unrestricted functionality. So that I can plan my power budget for the switch.

    I am wondering if all the 8 ports can support AP225 with full functionality.

    Please help with your inputs.

    Thanks

    Shabz

    The AP225 requires PoE+ to work with unrestricted functionality.

    The AP-225 does work with PoE with the following restrictions:

    - USB port disabled

    - Second Ethernet port disabled

     -2.4GHz 802.11n radio in 1×3:1SS mode

    >>> 5GHz 802.11ac radio operates without restrictions <<<

    Per the Data Sheet  the max power is 15W + 2.5W if the USB port is used.  This is power received at the AP......the switch would need to deliver more to account for losses through cabling and patch pannels.  Actual power used will vary by client load, client demand, and features used.

    We recently did some new testing based upon the new versions of AOS and determined the following maximum loads:

    Unrestricted mode / Max DC power: 15.5W
    Unrestricted mode / Max Powered Device (PD) power: 17W
    Restricted mode / Max Powered Device (PD) power: 13.5W

    * Above exclude USB consumption

    As Marcus said, the actual consumption will vary based upon client load, etc.
