I was reading the User Guide 3.4.2 and this seems a little confusing

"Aruba APs use Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) during the AP’s initial boot to grab their software
image and configuration from the controller. After the initial boot, the APs use FTP to grab their software
images and configurations from the controller".

I don't understand why the AP is going back after it already has it's image and configuration?

The user guide is generalizing.  The whole image and configuration are obtained on the second boot.  The "bootstrap" image is obtained on the initial boot of a new access point.
