Air Monitor strength??

    Hi,

We have Aruba deployments in neighbouring buildings. The Air Monitor can pick-up the neighbouring deployed dummy rogue test as noise. It kind of nulls our rogue test/containment test.

Is there a way to make the Air Monitor maybe less sensitive so that neighbouring deployments don't interefere with each other?

    Thanks for your help!!

    Paul.

There is not a way to decrease AP sensitivity.  Management frames are sent at the lowest rate, but they also travel the furthest, and that is why you would see many access points that are not really near you.  You might only want to consider containing rogues that can be seen on your wired network, as well.

    Hi there!

Thanks so much for your quick reply. Having discussed this further with a colleague of mine.. we agree with your comments, and think maybe this is more of an AirMagnet issue?

Maybe there is a configuration setting for our Airmagnet that will be able to differentiate when an item is an actual rogue in one location, and not seen as interference from another location (basically the next building).

    Thanks again!!

Are you trying to detect rogue access points that are plugged into your LAN, or are you looking for any Rogue Wifi that is being broadcast.  If you have Airwave, you can set the signal strength in Rapids:
