Hi. Can someone please advise if we use a controller for a number of AP's in different locations, if the controller fails can we setup the APs to act as controller unitl the controller comes up? Can this be done on a number of sites?
Also, what would you use for a public market place? External or internal?

If you already have a controller, you can configure APs as remote APs and have a backup SSID that can bridge locally if the connection to the controller is dropped.
What do you mean by internally vs externally?

Thanks for the response.
The "broidge locally" what is that refer to?
What we want to do is if the controller dfails, one of the APs on site to be used as controller. Im not refering to link failure but to controller hardware failure.
External or internal APs for public market place.

IAPs operating in controller-mode cannot "fail-back" to Instant with a virtual controller.
You would have to configure your APs as remote access points in bridge mode so traffic is forwarded locally out the AP instead of back to the controlller. You can then configure your SSIDs to stay up even if communication with the controller is lost.
I'm not sure what you mean by marketplace but if its a large open area outside, you should probably use outdoor APs (AP-275).
If you have not purchased any equipment yet, I would recommend Instant for this scenario based on the information you have provided.
You should also work with your local Aruba or Partner SE.
