I am looking into a project that would allow our campus to create a hotspot beyond the reaches of the wireless network(outside in the middle of nowhere). I came up with a solution that uses a RAP, a cell modem, and batteries. Here is what I plan to use:
1. Battery power
3. USB 3G/4G modem with (important) External antennas
I have seen other posts with similar setups, but I am looking for other people's ideas/suggesstions on my requirements. Thanks!

The Verizon UML290 3g/4g modem probably had the first and best support for RAPs. I am only mentioning that one because I have the best and longest experience with that one and it works. I am sure there are a number of others who would chime in with their favorites.

My fav is ZTE MF821 - it is cheap and more important - easy available in my country.
