    Hey Guys,

i have an installation tomorrow on a customer Site.

The Customer right now has an Aruba 3400 Controller and some APs.

He gets a new MM and VMC and i am wondering how to migrate the APs from the old controller to the new VMC.

    Would appreciate some help.

    Thanks

    Hi CJ,

yeah i did, but this just describes the migration via migration tool.

Our Aruba Course Instructor told us to better not use the migration tool...

is there a way to do it manually?

    thanks

Are you merely migrating the AP's from old to new or are you migrating the configuration as well?

    Hi zalion,

i already built the configuration on the new MM and VMC, i am just wondering how i can get the APs connect to the VMC tomorrow.

do i just turn off the old controller and the APs connect to the new VMC?

    thanks

What discovery method do the old access points use to find the old controllers? If dns, cahange it to the new IP address of the cluster. If it is DHCP, same thing, and then reboot your access points. If it broadcast/multicast, turn off ADP on your old controllers and reboot the access points.

The last method and most error-prone would be to provision the access points on the old controller to point to the IP address of the VRRP of the controllers on the new cluster.

    Hi CJ,

as far as i can tell, the APs find the old controller via DNS, aruba-master points to the Controllers IP.

So i Just change the DNS entry to the VRRP Adress of the new VMCs and reboot the APs?

deactivating the ADP protocoll sounds good nontheless.

i  guess i do this on CLI with "adp discovery disable" ?

    thank you
