RAP 93 - WiFi interference - possible solutions

We have 2 branches that have each an RAP-93 and they are complaining about WiFi signal and dropping connections.

Here is the output for one of them (the other is almost the same):

Our SSID's are "OFFICE1" and "OFFICE1_A".

 

 

The solution that we thought are as follow :

1) Changing the Min TX EIRP to 18 (but doing this will make the cell of coverage smaller and we wouldn't have service in all the branch)

2) Adding a second RAP 93

4) Changing the to a RAP-105 and steer clients more to the 5GHz instead of the 2.4.

 

The RSSI is -61 at the far ends of the coverage. (values were obtained while using a smart phone).

Since you have a lot of interfering devices in your area you may want to add an additional AP decrease the min power to 12 or you could possibly drop it to 9 (make sure you test this) since it looks like even at the far end you can still get a very good signal , drop multicast/broadcast on the VAP as well if none of the application used by the users require multicast.

 

But of course the best thing you could do is to add a capable 802.11a RAPs so you can steer your devices to 5Ghz .

I could see just two interfering AP`s on channel 11 and most of the interfereing AP`s are at channel 6.

The best way to eliminate the problem is to reduce the power of the AP or just move the client to "a" radio that should fix it.

 

When the issue occurs, you can also look for show ap debug client-table ap-name <name of the ap> to check and confirm what is the tx/rate client been transmitting and the re-tries value of it.

We went with an AP 105 at the location and that addressed the issue.
