    Are there any known methods of doing this on a microsoft client?

     

    Enabling single sign on feels like a machine authentication workaround

    Can you elaborate on what you mean by "speeding up"?   What problems are you seeing with the way things are setup today?

    Inconsistent group policy and drive mappings caused by either late or non-existant machine authentication occuring prior to user login.
