AP-277 as a point-to-point bridge?

We have a need to set up a bridge between two buildings separated by 2 city blocks.  There is clear line of site.  Can we use AP-277 for this?  If so, what is the approximate range?  If not, can the AP-274 with directional antennas be used?  And can multiple pairs be channeled together for increaded throughput?

Hi Friend,

Yes, you can establish a wireless link with  270 series APs, you need to choose suitable antenna to meet your requirements.

Please feel free for any further help on this.

Thank you.  But, just like most directional antennas list an approximate range associated with their particular configuration, is there a published range between a pair of AP-277 with their onboard directional antennas?

Re: AP-277 as a point-to-point bridge?

Jwaldron,

It is definitely not a simple topic, because there are a number of factors that can influence propagation like height,  terrain and interference.  The outdoor mimo VRD goes into it in detail here:  http://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Validated-Reference-Design/Outdoor-MIMO-Wireless-Networks/ta-p/155624

It would be easy to say you can get "x" distance with "y" antenna, but there are quite a few other factors that you need to consider.

Re: AP-277 as a point-to-point bridge?

HI friend,

yes as Colin said, we can not say that a perticular antenna will cover a perticular distance, it depends not only line of sight also depends on "fresnel zone " climate conditions, Antenna oriantation etc.. please go through the guide.

Anyway, AP-277 has Six integrated directional antennas with maximum antenna gain of 6.5 dBi so it should give very good coverage distance if it is not serving your purpose, you can try  AP-274 which is having three external antenna connectors where you can attach high gain directional antennas.
