Networking is in the midst of a major market transition. This started on the edge when mobile computing became the primary way users communicate. As wireless increased bandwidth to multiple gigabit speeds, users cut their cables and started using mobile devices more and more. This led to a huge increase in the amount of data being consumed from services such as video. This has had a hugely disruptive effect on the network edge.
The data center network is seeing a very similar transformation. Alongside mobile-first, enterprises are starting to look at a cloud-first organizational shift. Applications are the driver for infrastructure to converge and for traditional silos to disappear.
