This week kicks off the Aruba Airheads conference in Las Vegas! These last few weeks have been pretty hectic for me; I’ve been traveling all over the place! I’m looking forward to getting some dedicated time to focus on the Aruba product line, architecture and new features. I’ve signed up for a lot of interesting sounding sessions, and I’m especially looking forward to the “Practical AirWave Workshop” and the session titled “Gigabit Wi-Fi 802.11ac In-Depth”.
I've read Daniel Cybulski’s post on the Aruba Utilities Android app and I’m intrigued to see it in action for myself. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get my hands on it while I’m at Airheads. I used an Android phone while I was in Portugal, but I haven’t committed to purchasing an Android tablet because I haven’t found one that supports all the 5GHz channels.
I’m hoping to learn more about the Lync application and how you can adjust the QoS priorities for the different data streams within Lync (voice/file transfer/messaging). My workplace uses Jabber for in-house communications and I imagine that Lync has features/functions similar to Jabber.
It’s been ages since I’ve used AirWave on a daily basis, and every time I get another peek AirWave seems to be getting better and better. I’m hoping that the AirWave workshop will be a refresher course in how to use AirWave to manage/monitor/report on a wireless installation. I’ve had several instances at work where I was asked, “Can we do this?” with AirWave and I’ve had to answer no. Hopefully after this week, I can change that no to a yes!
Stephen Foskett has organized a few Tech Field Day Roundtable Discussions to occur at Airheads, and I’m looking forward to putting in my .02 about deep packet inspection and application visibility. It will also be interesting to see what everyone else thinks about the possibilities of Gigabit Wi-Fi after attending the Aruba session.
These are the sessions I plan to attend:
