Hi, i got a requirement to upgrade an IAP cluster consisting of different AP types from OS 6 to OS 8 (8.6 to be exact). Will the configuration be reset if i upgrade it (like in controller), or will the configuration from OS 6 carry over?

    Thank you

The configuration will carry over. AOSv6 to AOSv8 upgrades on controllers clear the configuration.

Thank you for the answer! Can we upgrade different type of IAP at once? (For example, 315, 305, 505 in a cluster)

Yes. In the software maintenance section you will supply the IAP software for each model. Certain models have the same version but different software builds. The software will be put on one of each model as a "seed", and the other APs of that type will get their software from that AP.

    Always backup configurations before upgrades.

What do you mean with "it will carry over"? If the upgrade from v6 to v8 will clear the configuration, this means we have to configure from 0 all the APs, right?

We have a similar environment as Aria_A, where our APs AP-103 and AP-305 are running with a virtual controller under AOSv6.
If there is no upgrade path from v6 to v8, can we just install the v8 manually on one AP via the virtual controller portal and it will provision the rest of the APs? Or do we need to upgrade and configure first one AP with the v8, backup the config and upgrade the rest of the APs manually?

    Thanks in advance!

Instant Mode: just upgrade from 6.x to 8.x and configuration is expected to be retained (carried over).

Controller Mode: when you upgrade the controller from 6.x to 8.x, configuration is erased and has to be re-done or migrated manually.
