AOS-CX switches and "smartlink"?

    Hi,

Had a look at the documentation and can't find any reference to the "smart link" functionality.

That's the feature that allows me to shut some access ports when an uplink goes down. Mostly to steer server traffic out of the switch that does not have upstream connectivity, when using a pair of access switches.

Is the feature present in any way? If not, how would you connect your servers to a pair of AOS-CX 6300M switches?

VSF is not an option as that would mean downtime for both switches when doing upgrades.

    Thanks

This feature is not yet supported on AOS-CX.

If you do not want to deploy 6300 in VSF, and as this is about servers, you may consider 832x series to use VSX with live-upgrade capability.

If you want to stick to 6300, then there is a workaround through NAE.

NAE can monitor the uplink. Upon detection of the uplink failure, the script can perform an actionCLI to shutdown associated downlink to server (these downlinks being a parameter of the NAE agent).

This "workaround" is not instantaneous: expect few seconds of delay between the uplnk failure and the duplication  of the port_state to the downlinks.

Yeah. I had already considered a NAE script, but didn't pursue this further due to the delayed response.

Do you know if this is a planned feature?
