I have gone through the booklet and purchased different receivers to do a horizontal stack with no luck.

I stacked no problem with DAC cables for confirmation.

    I purchased 10GBase-LR SFP+ Transceiver, 10G 1310nm SMF, up to 10 km, Compatible with HP J9151A

Because it shows that it works on the support page.

When I show transceiver detail it come up as,

    Transceiver in 1/50
    Interface Index : 50
    Type : SFP+LR
    Model : J9151D
    Connector Type : LC
    Transfer Distance : 10.0km (9um),
    Diagnostic Support : DOM
    Serial Number : HPF101LA2047

Any assistance on the merry go around would be greatly appreciated.    I just want to be able to use my fiber runs for my stack.

    Thanks,

From the transceiver info, it reports as J9151D, and the serial indicates it is a third party. Third party transceivers often work if they meet all the specs, and because this one reports as a known model, you don't even need to enable unsupported transceiver mode.

You may need to post the actual error message, or more detail about the problem you are having.

Check that the link comes up to the other end and reports LLDP. Then try the VSF stacking.

There is no error message just an amber light on both ports.

    They do not connect.

No error messages.    I just get a blinking amber light on the ports.    I have tried to remove stack and DAC stack to use just fiber with same results.

What other information or idea's does anyone have?

    Thanks

    Hi Michael,

Did you check the DOM info regarding the status of both sides (not sure how reliable this info would be, as it is a third-party device):

Switch(config)# show interfaces transceiver PortNr detail

As there are no error messages, probably you can doublecheck:
    - correct send/receive side on the transceivers are used
    - try with "unsupported transceivers" as mentioned by Richard (if not configured already)

Just to note an information, that all of you are already aware of:

An unsupported transceiver is used by the customer at their own risk./ Aruba assumes no liability to ensure the proper operation of a product not designed/designated as supported./ No guarantees are implied that a third-party transceiver will continue to work from release to release.

Orange flashing light is bad - it means the switch does not recognise the transceiver. You could try enabling unsupported transceiver mode (UTM) - that might help. Check what the show int transceiver command shows - if it reports as unsupported, you will have to try UTM.

I took it a step further.    I picked up some shorter fiber patch cables LC to LC.

    Worked no problem.

The fiber company states they tested the fiber run between the IDF's.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.
