6100CX optic and DAC support

    Hi
    Noticed in Iris and in the Datasheet that there are no supported DACS listed for the CX6100. Is this going to change? (I would have thought that it would support at least the 1 and 3 meter 10G Dacs.)

    No formal DAC support. 
    As no "stacking" for 6100.
    You can try "unsupported transceiver mode" but that would come with the usual caveats 
    If its a must speak to your Aruba AM/SE whom can feed this back

    At least for 6300F fs.com DACs work just fine for 10G. Too bad unsupported-transceiver does not allow using 25/50/100Gbps DACs for CX series, one reason we didn't get CX switches for our new DC. 100Gbps LR4 optic price is just ridiculous compared to what you can get from fs.com.

    2530 didn't get stacking but it's interesting as I believe 6100F is running sort of same hardware/OS as the higher end models? So in theory stacking could be implemented but it's a totally different case whether Aruba wants to do that :) With Cisco you can stack the lower end 9200L too but with Aruba you need to go with 2930F or 6200F to get stacking.

    Whats Interesting is that the 2540 also did not offer stacking BUT offered SFP+ with the use of Aruba branded supported DACs.

    Real question: has anything changed during latest weeks/months with regard to - (a) ArubaOS-CX Release Notes of latest builds for Aruba CX 6100 Switch Series OR (b) latest Aruba CX 6100 QuickSpecs edition (Supported Options) OR (c) latest 11th edition of Aruba Transceivers and DAC Guide - in relation with Aruba CX 6100 Switch Series' supported options (specifically Transceivers and/or DACs)?

    Side note (my two cents): Support for DACs shouldn't be necessarily associated 1:1 with the concept of Stacking (correctly "Frontplane Stacking" such as VSF given that we're speaking about DACs and not about " Backplane Stacking" requiring specialized  Stacking Cables) so the absence/presence of VSF feature shouldn't directly mean (as a consequence) a Switch wouldn't/would be engineered with proper DACs support...in my opinion the "triggering factor" is more related to the product positioning AND the engineered hardware capabilities...so a Switch engineered to work on Distribution/Core layers (with ToR/EoR/Core role) - instead of simple Access - is typically a natural candidate to support DACs (for the very simple reason of better sustaining Switch-to-Switch and Switch-to-Server connectivity), the fact that such type of Switch will be VSF (Stacking) capable too is a side effect (because, to simplify, on most of the networking designs involving Distribution/Core layers the VSF is a desired feature and, as such, implemented VSF could benefit of DACs support already present, not vice-versa).
