Hey wireless-X,
There is no specific alignment for a VM to a s/w release, so YES, a C1000v will support the 6.9.x code train, the assumption is you have followed the documented guide in terms of allocated resources required.

You DO NOT have to be on 6.8.8 to go to 6.9.0, but there are some documented guidelines about upgrading to 6.9.

Subject: CPPM-C1000v upgrade from 6.8.0 to 6.9.x
Hello Guys,
Do you have any idea if the C1000v supports or not the 6.9.0 release, or if it requires to move up to 6.8.8 prior to moving to the 6.9 release?
Thanks.
