Customer had a power outage this week due to a storm. The Aruba AP-565's show up on the switch, but they are not getting an ip address for some reason. The power draw is really low. Does this mean the AP is bad? There are about 6 of them connected to this switch all doing the same thing.

    Steve,
I would recommend starting with a few of simple things. I'm assuming these are Campus APs vs Instant?

    1) IP Helper - Is it possible someone didn't do a write mem after adding a helper IP address? If the AP cannot reach the controller,
    2) PoE - Does the switch have remaining PoE budget or is it out of power?
    3) Other PoE Devices - Are other PoE devices on the switch and functioning correctly?
    4) Switch Logs - Check the switch logs for any errors?
    4) Licenses - Are there AP licenses available on your infrastructure?

    More Involved:
    1) After that, do you or the customer have access to the ethernet cable going to the AP where you could plug a test device in and see if you get an IP on it?
    2) Check the DHCP server to see if the IP pool is exhausted?
    3) Do you have a spare known-good/working AP that you can plug into the cable going to the AP?
    4) Do you have surge protectors between the switches and the outdoor APs (AP-56X series)? It's possible they were blown during the outage or the power restoration.
    5) Can you plug the spare AP directly into the switch in the closet (bypassing the cable going to the outdoor location.
    6) Check routing reachability between the controller and AP.

Hope this helps get you started,
    Brad

What kind of switches are you running?

FWIW - i have the same/similar issues with AP 515/535 running on HP Procurve (pre-Aruba) 5406/5412zl switches.  I have POE+ modules in my switches but when they reboot, a bunch of my AP's will do the same thing - switch shows they are getting LOW power and they won't broadcast.

I don't have an answer for you - but in my case, POE power is not the problem, because i have plenty left.  Usually, if i reboot the switches a time or two it will all fix itself.  Obviously, that points to a switch problem but i never had issues with 200 series AP's on the same network.

One thing you may want to check.  When I moved from 6 to 8 all the AP's we have (215/315) were running in "Power Restricted" mode according to the mobility conductors.

It's on my list to fix on the AP configuration but I made a temporary fix by running the following command on the switches.

    no lldp config <ports> dot3TlvEnable poeplus_config

Not sure if this will help or not but maybe worth a try.  You do have to disable/enable the port/poe - restarting the AP from the conductor/controller didn't work for me.
