COPP - class station-ip.

    In a new deployment i see a lot of COPP messages on a 2930M switch about class station-IP. COPP is enabled with default values, can someone explain what a class station-ip traffic means? 

     

    09/03/19 13:01:00 05575 system: ST2-CMDR: copp: Threshold exceeded for traffic
    class station-ip. Packets are being dropped. (14 times in 60
    seconds)

    I had actually opened a ticket about this not to long ago. TAC had told me that station-ip is essentially taffic that is intended for the switch falls into that class.

    We have a lot of SNMP/ICMP monitoring(Airwave/PRTG/etc) which I assumed to be the culprit, so I just increased the default value

    Thanks for your suggestion, as we are still in project phase we have no SNMP or airwave connected to the switches yet. But i did enable ClearPass to read snmp.

     

    i have disabled snmp read from clearpass yesterday afternoon, and since then the messages stopped.
