AirGroup Service-ids List

  • 1.  AirGroup Service-ids List

    Posted Dec 10, 2019 03:45 PM

    Hi All,

I am posting this because I have not been able to find if anyone has already created something simliar.

We are a higher-education institution and allow students to bring almost any device they wish to campus. We regularly have to work with AirGroup to find the right service-ids for devices/services. Since this can be a time consuming process I am looking to see if anyone has a crowdsourced list of already discovered service-ids? Something along the lines of this list for wireless client specs https://clients.mikealbano.com/.

If not I will get started creating my own.

    Edit (12/18/19):

I will start posting my findings below. If anyone has anything additions to add please post them and I will add them to this top message.

HP AirPrint (Tested with HP Color LaserJet Pro M452nw)

    Tested with AOS 8.5.0.3

*Unconfirmed but I have seen HP LJ400 series and LJ600 series using these services.

I'm not aware of such a list, and if you would start such that would be awesome!

Can probably start the ball rolling with the ones I've got set up here. Would just replying to this post be the best way to do it ?

Thank you for the answers. Let's get the ball rolling on this.

I would think continually posting in this feed could get a bit disorganized down the road. Is there anywhere in the community we can spin up a decicated page? Or anyone have ideas of where we could host our own page? I would say we just need a page to display the info and a page to submit findings.

    Mark,

As a suggestion what you could do is keep this page for now and when people add new information as replies, you can edit the first message on the page (under the ... right from the subject of your message there is an Edit option) to collect all information in the first message of this threat. If that grows to a uncontrollable sittuation, we can see how to move it to another page. The content should probably reside in the Knowledge base, but you can't edit there so that is not a practical option if you want to keep it community managed.

Thanks for getting started on this! Had the exact same thought and discussion in the educause Listserv about trying to get something put together similar to the client capabilities list. I did find something a couple years ago on a blog, but unsure how up-to-date it is - https://jonathanmumm.com/tech-it/mdns-bonjour-bible-common-service-strings-for-various-vendors/ - I like your testing with ArubaOS comments as well! - specially in cases where even with the service-id - ArubaOS is unable to parse correctly due to certain vendors not following proper syntax (Roku) for example -> https://community.arubanetworks.com/t5/Wireless-Access/Roku-streaming-stick-Not-registering-with-AirGroup/m-p/378957#M77916
