    Hi All,

    Have Aruba-CX 8320 switch with dhcp configured on it. DHCP should provide controller IP for AP 315 via option 43 (ascii IP), but it doesn't. How to configure option 43 on this switch? I allready tried do it via ip, ascii and hex - but without success.

    AP still runs as a IAP.

    Regards

    Hi Maciej,

    Use option 43 and 60 togehter.
    Option 43 have the attribute the IP of your controller
    Option 60 have the attribute "ArubaAP"

    For what i understand from the manual it must be something like this.

    switch(config)# dhcp-server vrf primary
    switch(config-dhcp-server)# pool primary-pool
    switch(config-dhcp-server-pool)# option 3 ip 192.168.1.1

    Hope this helps you!

    Hi Marcel,

    Already did that. The solution is somewhere else. I found that there was no info in ap logs about getting option 43 from dhcp. A little reading...and...
    Some model, with universal, runs a cl mode (controller less) and they skip dhcp option 43 from dhcp. They can be provisioned from activate for example. - did this and it helps.

    Hi Maciej,

    Good it worked now, thanks for the feedback.

    Below the flowchart of the boot process of a Unified AP. Should be done the DHCP based discovery before getting into instant controller mode.

    Hi Maciej,

    My slide is from the ACMX training guide and it's true for every out-of-the-box or factory default Unified AP.

    Don't know the source of your slide but it's possible true when your Unified AP is already deployed in instant cluster mode before.

    When have issues with AP deployment it's recommended to perform a factory-reset from the CLI.
