Discovered this new Aruba 6100 Switch Series (ArubaOS-CX based):

    • JL675A - Aruba 6100 48G CL4 4SFP+ Switch
    • JL676A - Aruba 6100 48G 4SFP+ Switch
    • JL677A - Aruba 6100 24G CL4 4SFP+ Switch
    • JL678A - Aruba 6100 24G 4SFP+ Switch
    • JL679A - Aruba 6100 12G CL4 2SFP+ 139W Switch
Funny it was initially cited on the latest Aruba Airwave 8.2.12.0 Release Notes...just after reading about it I thought it was a typo...instead...well, instead it's not.

Indeed it's also cited on the Aruba Airwave 8.2.12.0 Supported Infrastructure Devices (as a new Aruba Switch series along with Aruba 8360 which was already released) and here too.

Now it's complete portfolio of AOS-CX switches so I would expect EoL for 2530/2930/3810 soon

Personally I hope not too soon.

AFAIK even if Aruba - let's say during 2021 - is going to declare EoL some of (or all) the ArubaOS-Switch OS based switch series it does not mean that support will stop immediately but it will be valid at least until about 2026/2027...plenty of time to think about a massive hardware revamp.

I would assume this switch replaces 2530-8G. Would be weird to have 12 ports in a 1U chassis :)

Also weird though that they have 2930F-8G but no compact 6200F. Maybe Aruba is going to release more models later?

From what I've understood lately 6100 would be the one replacing 2530 as it does not have dynamic segmentation support or any advanced features like EVPN/VXLAN. Wonder if it will have stacking though? Probably not that either if it's replacing 2530...

6200 does not have EVPN, but static VXLAN support. So it's quite similar to 2930. It has dynamic segmentation.

6300 then has EVPN/VXLAN and dynamic segmentation and you can do a mixed stack of F and M series.

I believe otherwise the exact details are mostly irrelevant for most users so it's about how much you need those UBT/VNBT (dynamic segmentation, EVPN/VXLAN) features or mixed stacking of switches with dual PSUs. (Only point I see with 6300M is dual PSU. And .. well that's one expensive second power unit I have to say :) ). Last time I asked, 6200F was a lot more expensive than 2930F, and no one could really say any good reasons why to go with 6200F. Wouldn't like to go with AOS-S as it's clearly being phased out so hopefully next year we can get better quotes :)

Here I'm getting very good prices for the 6200F range. Roughly the same as the comparable 2930F.
Actually, would say it's cheaper for me to buy a 6200F than a 6300M 1600W PSUs.

Is it confirmed the 6100 will not do dynamic segmentation?

Hi Ricardo, I believe your question (and all the speculations done above) is currently really difficult - if not impossible - to address here...Aruba CX 6100 switch series' images have not yet been seen (not to speak about official documentation which is currently unavailable too): how is it possible to know such details already?

I believe the Aruba CX 6100 Switch Series QuickSpecs (Edition 1) was available since yesterday...in any case...here it is (back in future 04-01-2021)...we can stop arguing and start reading/comparing.

Yep, no routing / dynamic segmentation and seems it doesn't have stacking capabilities either.

@pubjohndoe It does appear to have the same level of routing capability as 2930F i.e. Static Routes.

Dynamic Segmentation and VSF could come with a software upgrade in future, I do not think these are hardware-dependent features.

Hi Raul, personally I didn't pay too much attention to this new Aruba 6100 Switch series (I haven't one) so I didn't notice the lack of the software. Technically speaking Aruba (in other documents) reports:

    and also:

    but - like you - I wasn't able to find anything about Aruba 6100 (ArubaOS-CX PL.10.06 related).

My take is that - probably - it's too early to see released the first iteration of PL.10.06 code on ASP.

    Generally the information is here
    https://www.arubanetworks.com/products/switches/access/6100-series/

Firmware is not though and you are complete correct there is nothing on ASP currently.
I suppose there will be when there is an updated version released.
The "Software Download" from the above link return zero results on ASP right now.

    Features and support
    - NetEdit support
-Central is coming. Hopefully around summer.
    -Airwave support
    -IMC is coming
    -NAE is present
    -VSF stacking is not
-No Dynamic Segmentation. You can still use CPPM and RADIUS of course.

    Is there an Update?
I have update IMC to last release but there is no possibility to manage the 6100 switch series?
