Thank you, parnassus, for the prompt reply and intelligence.
I overlooked that VSF Fast Software Upgrade feature in the documentation somehow. It describes exactly what I’m looking for. Thank you.
Your notes from the link HPE ArubaOS-Switch Management and Configuration Guide for KA/KB.16.03 (January 2017) Chapter 30 "VSF Fast Software Upgrade" now appears at Chapter 23 page 575. http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=7074783&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c05365312 As you noted above, the release notes describe that my redundant MMs should be removed if migrating to VSF. This is may be an acceptable trade-off.
Now to define the trade-off…
In your opinion, given my current non-VSF configuration of autonomous switches using redundant MMs, STP, VRRP, Track, et. al., can you suggest advantages or disadvantages of migrating to a VSF stack? It seems that I would have to reconfigure at least one switch adding to potential downtime - so, there is a cost. Knowing my configuration, would you recommend staying using my current autonomous configs or would you stack and rebuild using VSF?
My dilemma is to keeping a working (but complex) config vs. migrating to a relatively simplification of what I already have. Based on this fast software upgrade process, I feel that VSF may be a better way for me to go.
Thanks again for your reply.
