Hello everyone,

does anyone know if the AOC cable (Aruba 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ 30m AOC - R0Z24A) works on the Aruba 8400 Switch (I/O slot 8400x 8p 40G QSFP+ Adv Module - JL365A)?

At the moment the datasheet doesnt mention active optical cables to 8400, just for 8325. 

AFAIK Aruba 8400's QuickSpecs (March, 4th 2019 Version 11) doesn't report any support for AOC options...the very same is true for latest ArubaOS-Switch and ArubaOS-CX Transceivers Guide (6th Edition, January 2019)...OTOH latest Aruba 8325's QuickSpecs (May, 6th 2019 Version 6) instead states that AOCs are supported (R0M44A, R0M45A and R0Z21A respectively 3, 7 and 15 meters 25G SFP28 to SFP28 AOCs).

Consider that Aruba 8400 hasn't an interface card with ports supporting SFP28 (1/10/25Gbps)...so that could be the reason.

At this time (May, 2019), only the 8325 has been qualified to work with the 40G AOCs:

• Aruba 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ 7m Active Optical Cable (R0Z22A)
• Aruba 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ 15m Active Optical Cable (R0Z23A)
• Aruba 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ 30m Active Optical Cable (R0Z24A)

Qualification for 40G AOC support on the 8400 will be coming in a future timeframe (sorry, can't commit at this time). 

the 25G AOCs: ONLY supported on the 8325

• Aruba 25G SFP28 to SFP28 3m Active Optical Cable (R0M44A)
• Aruba 25G SFP28 to SFP28 7m Active Optical Cable (R0M45A)
• Aruba 25G SFP28 to SFP28 15m Active Optical Cable (R0Z21A)

And correct, the 8400 does not have a 25G module, so no support for 25G products on the 8400.
