Yes, you can remove one of the licenses from your current controller and transfer that to the other standalone controller. The Aruba Support Portal allows you to do that.
That only works if these are separate license, you cannot split up a 1024 in two smaller licenses.

I currently have two wireless Lan controllers that are running in a master/backup configuration. i have two licenses installed for approximately 500 AP's on each license.
We are needing to split the two controllers up so that they work independently (both masters on separate networks). I am wanting to know if i can use one of the qty=500 licenses on one and the second on the other.........
