    Good afternoon everybody,

please your help, i need to buy a Aruba access switch model and its SFP BIDIRECTIONAL of 1 or 10G for OS2 optical fiber OS2 supports to connect to another switch for a distance equal to 60 kilometers or 38 miles.

Tell me model of both (Swtich and SFP BIDI).

    Best regards.

Out of curiosity: 60 km without any single active device in between? a single point-to-point fibre optic cable run 60000 meters long?

SFP+ Transceiver (LR ER) can reach, under particular conditions for the SMF Single Mode Fiber 9/125 um link, up to 40 km (where particular conditions are an "engineered" (SMF) link with less than 11.1 dBm loss over the entire run end-to-end) or up to 30 km on a standard SMF 9/125 um link.

Aruba switches supporting this type of SFP+ LC ER Transceiver - the HPE X132 10G SFP+ LC ER Transceiver (J9153A) or the Aruba 10G SFP+ LC ER 40km SMF Transceiver (J9153D) - can be found on the Aruba AOS-S and AOS-CX Transceiver Guide (Edition: 12 September 2022).

A similar note can be done about the HPE X121 1G SFP LC LH Transceiver (J4860C) or about the Aruba 1G SFP LC LH 70 km SMF Transceiver (J4860D), in that case LH = Long Haul and accounts for 70 km of SMF 9/125 um link.

As above, Aruba Switches supporting J4860C/J4868D can be found on the above guide.

No BiDi SFP/SFP+ if I'm not mistaken.

    Good afternoon Parnassus,

thanks for the answer. The HPE X121 1G SFP LC LH Transceiver (J4860C) complies with the ITU-T G.652 fibre was originally optimized for use in the 1310 nm wavelength region, but can also be used in the 1550 nm region.  Finally, Does The HPE X121 1G SFP LC LH Transceiver (J4860C) works good with the 1550 nm region??

    Please your help.

From the attached quickspecs, the J4860C tranceiver uses 1550 wavelength and is spec'ed for up to 70 km with a fiber that meets

Low metal content, single-mode fiber-optic, complying with ITU-T
    G.652 and ISO/IEC 793-2 Type B1

Thanks a lot Zac67. Please your help, I need to connect 02 switches Aruba 6100 for a distance from 60 kilometers using 02 J4860C tranceiver, i need to know if for this conectivity is necessary any attenuator for optical fiber.

    See the attach quickspecs:

For distances less than 20 km, a 10 dB attenuator must be used.
For distances between 20 km and 40 km, a 5 dB attenuator must be used.

So, for 60 km, no attenuator is used, but your fiber must meet the specs above.
