What is the minimum topology size to get started terminating APs with ArubaOS 8 with purely virtual devices?
Is a MM required? Can it operate by itself and terminate APs?
Or can we just use a VMC by itself?
Can a VMC operate by itself or do we need a MM too?Its for an internal lab, so we'd like to keep it 100% virtual if possible.
VMC can run standalone, but you will not get clustering, airmatch, or any other 8.0 MM specific features. To support the advanced 8.0 featureset, you will need a Mobility Master.
Hi Jerrod.
Is it still possible to form a cluster with two MC's or two VMC's running AOS 8 without MM, as did in previous versions? I mean, using the old-fashioned way, supposing that AirMatch and hitless failover are not strictly required?
Regards,
Elisio.
There is no clustering without MM, the MM is the cluster manager. Without MM, you have HA only.
Note that 'Clustering' in the context of AOS 8, is not the same as HA in 6.x. Clustering is far more robust. But you can do HA in non-MM 8.x.
