DHCP settings for sites that have DHCP issued from the router.

We are implementing our IAPs at our remote sites for the first time and we're having issues with sites that issue DCHP from the router.  The sites that have Domain Controllers are working fine (we don't have any DHCP settings configured in Central).  The sites that get DHCP from the router, get a 169 address.  So my question is, which Scope should I configure in Central for these sites?  Distributed, Centralized or Local... and also L2 or L3?  These confuse me, no matter how many times I read the desciption of each!  Thanks.

Edit: Each site has it's on Network, so site 1 would have 172.30.xx.0/24 and site 2 would have 172.30.yy.0/24.  This is consistent across our entire MPLS WAN.

Wouldn't the iAP have to be able to get DHCP addresses from the router in order to get to Central? Can you give us some detail as to your VLAN/switch/router topology?

I just removed all DHCP settings from Central and used the SSID settings to get this going.  Client IP Assignment - External DHCP, VLAN assignment - Static, VLAN - 1.  Thanks for your input.

I didn't see clients mentioned in the opening post, so assumed you meant the iAP themselves. Did you have to assigne the iAP manually, or was DHCP working for them?

If DHCP wasn't working for the iAP then I wouldn't expect it to work for clients either.

I'm assuming the router has DHCP set up on VLAN 1.

Does it work for the iAP, and not the clients? or not for either?

Also, to answer your question, I assigned a static to my IAP, so it didn't need DHCP address from the router.
