If so (if it is really something tied to software) you should be able to find references on Release Notes of first 16.xx compared to latest 15.xx because it's a notable restriction.

Additionally, I add the following - I have identified that models with the software version 15.xx.xxxx apparently do not have this problem. I believe it is related to class 16.xx.xxxx in switches according to the model below specifically. I can't say about other models because i don't have them here.
Product: HP J9625A
Name: HP 2620-24-PoEP Switch

Hi, are you running RA.16.04.0025 on your J9625A? what software version is it exactly running on actually? it's highly probable that the 32 VLANs value on that switch series (HP ProCurve 2620) represents an Hardware/Software threshold/restriction that can't be changed (IIRC HP/Aruba 2530 shows a similar behaviour).

Hi Everyone.
I have an hp HP 2620-24-PoEP Switch - J9625A configured as spanning-tree mode mstp force-version rstp-operation with 36 vlans. The switch automatically disables 4 vlans with the command spanning-tree <vlans> disable. If I try to enable them I get the message "PVST cannot be enabled on more than 32 VLANs" . Could anyone tell me why this happens?Thank you very much
