HP ZE43XX 54G wireless

    Okay, I just purchased a ZE43xx model, and I wanted the 802.11b INTERGRATED wireless. But they were offering a free upgrade to the 54G wireless...so I took it.

    My question is: This new wireless is still completely intergrated, right? No cards or antenna's sticking out? I'm always afraid I'm gonna break those cards off!

    Please help calm my fears!!

    Well, on notebooks, very few antennas !

    It can be a software if hardware is 54G compatible, or a PCMCIA card, with no antenna...

    But I'm not sure you can do it without PCMCIA card. Best would be to ask HP sales team that was offering this to you...

    Did you buy this online or at a store? Your best bet is just questioning them on it. Unless they already have laptops with integrated 802.11g's around they'll likely just throw in an external 802.11g with the deal, saving them time.

    I suspect, if they say INTEGRATED on the specs, it means they will insert a mini PCI card INSIDE your computer. In this case, the antenna is also internal, routed around the innards, so you will never actually see it. The HP laptops are equipped with a wireless monitoring light in the front and there is an access door on the bottom where the card will be inserted. Hope this helps!
