    hello guys,

I'm facing difficulties with my HPE 5940 switch. I'm trying to use some 10GBase-T SFP+ from HPE.

My version is 7.1.070 with 6715 release.

1GBase-T SFP+, works fine on my switch.

However 10G transceivers won't let the same link go up. I see in logs: The transceiver is 10G_BASE_T_AN_SFP but the link stay down.

I can't force link-type or speed manually of the interface, i get the error: operation failed. So it stays on auto.

I see with the transeiver info the connector type is RJ45 but nothing really different with the 1G transceivers.

Have you ever face this probleme?

    Regards

    Hi

There is no 10G Base-T SFP+ in the supported accessories list for 5940 switches. What is the exact model ref ? JH395A ? JH390A ? other ?

Which port are you trying to use ? What is on the other side ?

    Hi,

The exact model of the 10 Base-T SFP+ is HP 813874-B21.

The exact model of the switch is JH390A.

I tried to use it on another JH390A. But it doesn't work.

I also tried with a palo-alto PA-820. The result is the same.

So both port are in 10G.

I tried on a PC (with a 1G port). It didn't work either.

    Btw I was using a RJ45 cat 6A.

But if you say in your first answer that "10G Base-T SFP+ in the supported accessories list for 5940 switches". I won't be able to use it anyway?

    Regards,

    hi

Try to loop on the same switch : for example, 1 sfp+ in port Te1/0/1 and another one in Ten1/0/2, put a RJ45 cable between them and see what happens.

Is there any entry in the log ?

    Please post the result of

    display interface te1/0/1

    display interface te1/0/2

    display transceiver interface

(adapt the port numbers to your context)

Comware platform is very "permissive" so you should be able to use these SFP+

Hi, I don't know how I didn't that in logs but indeed there is this alarm:

I googled it and that means that there is an issue detected locally (bad data/signal).

A remote fault is raised by a port that is receiving a remote fault frame from the far end (port with local fault).

But is there a way to solve this problem and "allow" this sfp+ ?

I shall propose to check the cable quality/length

If possible, can you change the cables for new ones ?

Did you try to "loop back" one port to another on the same switch (with a short RJ45 patch cord) ?

    Hello,

please check the cable. You need at least a Cat6 (250mhz) for up to 55m. Better would be a Cat6A (500mhz) or higher with shielding.
