Issue assigning an IP on int GE0/1 on MSR954 router

    Hello everyone!

    Could someone help me out and explain why Comware 7 on MSR954 JH297A router refuses to accept IP ADDRESS command to assign an IP to GE0/1 yet every available manual assures that's the way to do it?

    SY

    INT G0/1

    IP ADDRESS 192.168.3.1 255.255.255.0

    <Unregonized command found at '´`' postion>

    I can't assigne an IP just by IP SOURCE BIND IP-ADDRESS 192.168.3.1

    I'm just desperate.

    Solved the issue - GE0/1 was in PORT LINK-MODE BRIDGE (LAYER2).

    Must have been set to PORT LINK-MODE ROUTE (LAYER 3).

    All is there just the manuals don't specify you have to be careful with PORT LINK-MODE.

    Wasted 2 days on this issue. Hoped to finish config on the router over the weekend.
