It's recomended not to mix the 130 series AP's with the 340 series AP's but in our case we have had to.  Since moving to 8.x and installing AP340's we are seeing sticky clients and 5GHz capable clients connecting more to 2.4GHz.  Are there any settings that could be tweaked in 8.x that could help mitigate some of our issues?  Upgrading the 130 series APs isn't in the cards right now since we have over 1800 of them on the network.

First, make sure all your APs run the same channel-width. So disable the 80MHz channels on the 340's.

Then, if clients prefer to connect to the 2.4GHz, it is likely that the power on 2.4 is set too high, or the power on 5GHz is too low (relative to each other); it might be that because the AP130 and 340 are quite different in design, the actual signal at the client is unbalanced between the AP's and the bands.

You can have a look at RF and Roaming optimization VRD, and in addition, validate the actual signal from the different APs on the different bands to make sure with similar EIRP settings the APs will produce similar signal patterns. You can use survey tooling for that, but for a first impression, you might use simple tools like Wifi Analyzer (Android), InSSIDer (Windows) or Wifi Explorer (Mac).
