Hello all, I was looking at a way to send logs to a syslog server that would help identify if a port starts to show high crc/fcs errors. I know I can go into the switch manually and review it. But, I would like to find a way to be alerted when that happens. I attempted to look through the Logging guide and nothing stood out directly to me.

Figured I would try here. Any help is apprecaited.

i am not sure about SYSLOG giving you that specific info, but you can have a NAE agent for that.

If you look at this example:

    https://ase.arubanetworks.com/solutions/id/275

    It includes the following:

    • When rate of Rx CRC error packets (packets/s) is above the threshold:

The agent status is marked as critical & syslog message displayed.

I've tested these scripts and using the webui on switches it was easy to setup. I haven't tried it on all the models you mention and don't know the limitations. If NAE isn't available then a SNMP monitoring solution would work. We get alarms from switches to IMC (via standard syslog/snmp).
