I'm well aware of the alternative fiber option, but in this case I needed an option that could withstand a bit more abuse.

Subject: No "stable" link between Aruba 2920 (J9728A) and 2930M (JL322A) Using 7m DAC-cable (J9285D)
Hi Simon,
i think there have gone several things sideways.
- You attached the Transceiver-Output of an SFP+ 10G SR (fiber) Transceiver, but you were talking about a 7m DAC+ Cable
- The D-Revision of that DAC+ Cable is only supported on the 2930m-Switch. The 2920 has only the B-Revision J9185B) listed as supported.
Here maybe the allow-unsupported-transceivers may help. - As i always had Problems with DAC+ Cables between different Stacks & HW-Revisions i always opt for a truly interchangeable Signaling aka. Fiber-Optics.
At least here is a Standard that gets respected by most of the vendors.
I'd change to a SFP+ ShortRange Setup.
On both Switches you can use fully supported D-Revision Transceivers (J9150D) when having the latest firmware on the 2920.
The 2930m also allowes the use of th (J9150C with DOM).
You should also look into spanning-tree (matching and working), maybe activated UDLD?, Smart-Links active?, Loop-Protection with auto-reenable?...
Best of Luck to you
Franz

Hi there,
I thought I'd chosen a simple solution by using a DAC-cable as an uplink between 2 switches.
Have I overlooked something? Please advise.
Regards, Simon
Switch 1: 2920-48G (J9728A) + 2-port 10-GbE SFP+ (J9731A)
Switch 2: 2930M-48G-PoE+ (JL322A) + 4p 10GbE SFP+ Module (JL083A)
Cable : J9285D
