    hi,

    a question @ all:
after the installation of the FW k.15.10.0009 or k.15.12.0006 or all trunk ports with mesh and 100% traffic display in the PCM. on the switch but everything is running normally
    "sh int port-utilization"  brings'll 0.5-1% load

    one has an idea?
    thank you

    Thomas

Same problem .... glad i found your post....was driving me insane!

This is the only reference i could find to this problem.

    Same, started after firmware upgrades

5406 switches and PCM+ 4.0 are both latest patch:

    5406 - K.15.12.0010

    PCM+ - 04.00.06.628

    Please recheck your firmware versions.

I think you are referring to

    K.15.12.0010  , latest firmware september 2013

    K.15.10.0016 , previous firmware (june/juli 2013?)

I am having issues with the K.15.12.0010 and finding this post I am also using trunks.

I haven't checked the load though.

What I noticed was the disability for any proper traffic on the switch itself (few KB/s) and no connection to the "outside" world at all.

The only "solution" was a reboot of the switch. After it had been rebooted everything works fine for a while, untill I started to (re)config. Then it would have the same issues.

When the switch is "hanging" eventually I got heart beat lost messages on module B. This occured with 2 different switches, both running the latest K.15.12.0010 firmware.

Reverting to K.15.10.0016 instantly solved everything and they are stable now.

I've adressed my issue to HP and will send them a link to this post aswel, for it might help to find a cause.

    Hi,

ran into that on 5406zl after upgrading to K.15.12.0012, so it's still in the latest stable firmware. The issue is cosmetic though, the trunk counters are running wild in SNMP only*, there is no real traffic on the member ports. It's also not PCM+ related, I'm seeing that pattern in Torrus as well (long term graphing the interface counters). Should be posted to the ProCurve switch forum, as PCM+ cannot do anything about it.

And I thought "Counter Fun" is a Cisco only phenomenon ;)

    HTH,

    Andre.

*) What actually happens: The if{In,Out}Octets OIDs of Trunk interfaces sometimes just return 0. The rate at which that happens seems to depend on query rate. Given the counter returns to the original value on subsequent queries, the monitoring application will assume wrapping, see intervals in which seemingly several GB have been exchanged, and claim a high interface load.

    I have same problem.

I tried newest  firmware K.15.13.0005, but still reported 100% traffic usage by PCM 3.

    Same issue.

ProCurve Manager 4.00.6.628 incorrectly shows 100% utilization, frames, broadcasts and mulicasts on trunks.

    8212zl (J9091A) running version K.15.13.0005

I created a ticket on this issue and was told that version K.15.12.0014 for J8715B HP E8212 zl Switch Base System fixed this (https://h10145.www1.hp.com/downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=J8715B / Counters (CR_0000142198) - When a trunk configured for sFlow polling is simultaneously queried via SNMP, all counter values for the trunk are zero.)

But, K.15.13.xx broke it again.  A future firmware may fix it again.

There should also be a fix in PCM 4.0 AU7, but they are not sure when AU7 will be available.

Just updated our 8206zl to  K.15.13.0005 and now we can't monitor our trunks any more.

reports very strange values on all trunks, 50G utilization on a 2gbit trunk.

Also monitoring broadcasts tx/rx via IMC, and that also looks crazy high....

Tried monitoring via Cacti & PCM 3.x same issues, so it's definately problems in the firmware.

bug fixed on id # 0000142198, you should update to K_15_13_0006 (draft release), which can be obtained by logging case to HP technical support !
