    Hi.

Our new Procurve 5406zl (J8697A) sends periodically an single ICMP packet to intranet address using management interface. Does anybody know what this is all about, or how to stop it?

    Firmware is K.15.15.0008.

Management VLAN has ip address, igmp, jumbo and primary-vlan configured and otherwise it functions normally.

Target address range varies from device to device, being 10.150.85.64, 10.150.64.0, 10.150.103.0.

Actual address is like 10.150.85.64. Packet itself is type 8 (echo request) with zero (0) code.

Downside with this is that our router log gets spammed with ACL warnings as packets are denied.

    Regards,

    MFrost

    This was solved:

Core router access list was leaking (configuration error...) and switch tried to answer.

So if you get similar behaviour, check accordingly.
