    Hello all,

It has been over 18 years since I setup a VLAN so I want to get this correct.

I have a straight LAN that has 7 switches on it with the IP address scheme of 192.168.0.x - 192.168.5.x with the subnet of 255.255.248.0

    Simple enough.

On one of the switches, an Aruba 6000 (R8N87-60001 with firmware PL 10.08.1010) I want port 22 (and port 22 only) to go to an HVAC system (one cable to the system) and it will have and IP address of 192.168.67.72 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0.  It will need to access our router to the internet which is 192.168.2.99

I don't think I need trunking or anything like that  Could you guys provide the steps or point me to some website that has the steps to configure this?

    Thank you,
    Kelly W.

What does routing on your network?

You have 7 switches in flat network connected directly to the IPS router (LAN part). Do you have control of the router & is it something configurable in normal way (so it has VLAN options etc)

Assuming the answer to the last question is yes, then:

    You need to:

    • define VLAN on your router and tag the router switch port your other switch connects to
    • create any rules on the router that will allow that VLAN to go out to internet
    • define same VLAN on your switch (if that switch is not the one the HVAC is connected to, then  you need to define that VLAN on EACH one in the chain, at least up the the switch in question - of course it all depends how the switches are connected, star/spoke, serial line) - out in/out port on the switch has to be tagged for the VLAN
    • mark port 22 as untagged for HVAC device

    Seb
