Hello,
I wonder about the summertime settings, and the infofrmation in the manual regarding this.
Reading the "HP7500 Switch Series Fundamentals Configuration Guide R6700" - "Changing the system time" did not make me any smarter...
] clock summer-time CEST ?
The "?"-help says:
"one-off Configure absolute summer time"
"repeating Configure recurring summer time"
a "one-off" summertime setting? Why? (Ok Lets accept that for a sec)
Anyways - I use the "repeating" option where I'm promted for a START TIME and END-TIME, but start and end contains YEAR, which much be the same for START and END, otherwise the command is not accepted.
I guess what I'm asking is: "What is up with that?"
I entered the year 2000 in START and END, and it switched to summertime. If I use 2016 in START and END it doesn't switch to summertime, so i reckon the year you enter (twice) is the year it starts recurring?
So display clock yields:
] display clock
16:06:11 CEST Wed 08/20/2014
Time Zone : CET add 01:00:00
Summer-Time : CEST repeating 02:00:00 2000 March last Sunday 02:00:00 2000 October last Sunday 01:00:00
Doing the same on a comware 7 platform (in this case a HP5900) yields
]display clock
16:07:16 CEST Wed 08/20/2014
Time Zone : CET add 01:00:00
Summer Time : CEST 02:00:00 March last Sunday 02:00:00 October last Sunday 01:00:00
This output reflects the configuration. Here the "repeating" keyword is missing and no year in the START and END times, which is how it "should be" - because "one-off" makes no sense, and year-info in recurring summertime - makes no sense.
I guess they fixed it in Comware 7,and I suppose fixing comware 5 is awful with backwards compatebility and tons of old configurations, but still ...
Regards (I'm not sure if asked a question)
/Søren
