    Hi,

I will update the firmware from version 5.20.R6708P03 to the latest version (7500_7.10.R7577P06). The question is whether you can upgrade directly to the latest version or have to upgrade gradually before upgrading to the latest version.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

Are you really sure your actual HP 7503 (read: MPU, Chassis) supports Comware 7?

If I were you I will properly verify that.

Comware 5 to 7 migration is not just a simple "software upgrade affair"...there are Hardware related restrictions and requirements.

Comware 7 on HP 7500 Switch series requires Switch to be equipped with MPU with 4GB RAM (like LSQM2MPUD0 JH207A or JH216A, LSQM1SRP8X2QE0 JH209A or JH217A) and IIRC specific SKU for switch chassis (HP 7503 Switch chassis JD240C instead of the older compatible with Comware 5).

If you read the latest HP 7500 Switch series QuickSpecs you should see (generically referring to HPE FlexNetwork 7500 Switch series) these statements repeated for various models (7502, 7503, 7506 and 7510):

Comware v7 MPUs (JH207A, JH208A and JH209A) only support these LPUs:

    • Comware v7 LPUs- JH209A, JH210A, JH211A, JH212A, JH213A, JH214A and JH309A
    • Comware v5 LPUs- JG663A, JD229B, JD230A, JD234A, JD237A, JD221A, JD231A, JD232A, JD233A, JD191A, JD235A, JD236A, JF290A and JC792A

You could use display version, display device and display device manuinfo Comware CLI commands to initially gather some valuable data about your Switch.
