    hi,

i have read through the whole manual yet cannot find how to fixed mac address on a single port. What we would like to do is, to fixed mac address on a port, allowing only device with the fixed mac address to access and reject the rest.

    please advise, thanks

I have exactly the same problem.

I tried to set an MAC based ACL to filter traffic, but no luck.

can ANYONE from HP please advise if this is even possible and if yes - how to set an MAC-based ACL

to permit/deny traffic - the 1910 documentation just sucks as there's no examples or explanations.

    for instance:

let's have ACL 4000 [link setup] with rule id 1 which should deny any traffic from source MAC 0000-1111-2222.

[took me some time to figure out what ' format of MAC address is "H-H-H" ' really means - no example of the correct syntax at all.]

so I specified source MAC and now - what is the source mask ?

source mask of WHAT? is this a source MAC mask? or subnet mask ?

On a HP V1910 switch this is how you do MAC filtering:

go to 'Network > MAC > Add'

Type in the MAC address of the PC you want secured, choose ‘Static’,' VLAN1', select port the PC is connected to.

Next go to ‘Authentication > 802.1x and enable 802.1x, then click 'Add'.

Then select the port that has the static MAC address on, select 'MAC Based port control',' Auto Authorization',

    and click 'Apply'.

This should then secure the port so it only works with the single static MAC address.

    enjoy.

    Hello,

    What about multiple ports ?

I manage a lot of switches v1910 connected to a lot of fixed computers. Using mac address authentication, shall i configure each port one by one ? I am scared !

    Thanks for helping
