We're doing a small install of the new ArubaOS 8 with virtualized Mobility Master, virtualized Mobility Controller, and 24 access points. For the setup on the virtual appliances, I seem to be missing some documentation. The virtualized install guide goes over configuring vSphere, the quick start guide seems to only cover hardware devices, and the user guide doesn't cover the initial setup at all.
What's confusing me is the VLAN setup between the appliances and vSphere. The vSphere guide says to setup the port groups so that all VLANs are available (a trunk port). There's nothing that I've found that says how to answer the initial setup questions when you first start the appliance though. These specific ones are confusing us:
Enter Controller VLAN ID:
Enter Controller VLAN Port Mode (access/trunk)
(If you answer 'access; here, it asks for the IP)
(If you answer 'trunk' here, it asks for the Native VLAN ID and then for the IP)
I've tried it several ways and never seem to be able to get network connectivity. It seems to me that in vSphere, you should only assign the specific VLAN for the Mgt interface (20 in our case), answer Access to the question, and give it an IP on the VLAN20 range.
Anyone that's done some of these, can you give me some examples of how you setup both the vSphere network side and how you answered those questions?
