    Environment
Mobility Conductor, (2) Controllers, AP-515s and Clearpass

This campus has been installed and working just fine for quite some time. Recently some staff members have upgraded their pc's to Windows 11. After the upgrade they are now having problems connecting to the wireless.

After a device restart, an attempt by the device to auto-reconnect to the network will prompt an "Action Needed" notification.
Clicking this notification or trying to select the network in system settings gives the following notice:

    ABC Company
    Connecting
    Continue connecting?

If you expected to find ABC Company in this location, go ahead and connect. Otherwise, it may be a different network with the same name.

Then it lists certificate Issued clearpass02.ABCCompany.edu

Clicking this second connect button grants the user network access. However this prompt appears at any reconnect after a shutdown, after switching to a different network or after an undetermined period of time something in the realm of several hours. (which is really annoying)

We tried to resolve the issue with a change to registry but that did not resolve issue.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkxKYy32JnU

Also tried to revert wireless driver for the machine back to the window10 driver. This did not resolve issue either.
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-11-wifi-keeps-saying-action-needed-and/70a5bc80-54b4-4eed-9a16-fec1bbae5ef0

The above solutions (that didn't work) seem to be more device specific. I'm posting here in the hopes of finding some kind of broader config change on controllers to help resolve this issue.

    * Note  this is happening to any device that we either image on Windows 11 or update to Windows 11, and is not present on Windows 10 before going to Windows 11.

How have you configured this wireless network on the device? Group Policy? I found that having a wildcard in the server names no longer works in Windows 11

    saludos,

Hi @plasticwand33, could you show how the client is configured, the 3 or 4 images where the 802.1x is configured.

Probably is not verifying the server identity, probably is a wildcard for the name of the server and win11 doesn't like, probably is not the complete name, etc.

I think the issue could be that the box: "conectarse a estos servidores está vacia" and it should have the CN of the RADIUS server certificate

There is a RADIUS server you're pointing to authenticate that ssid, get the cert of that RADIUS, find the CN name and put it in that field. Try with one laptop in win11 and let us know.

    I hope this helps

    Regards

    Hello Jaasperff,

We have seen the similar issue with devices upgrading to Windows 11 22H2 version where existing WiFi (enterprise)  cannot connect. What we found for a quick fix is for customers experiencing this issue to forget the enterprise SSID and reconnect, after this fixes Windows 11 clients.  We have not seen the cert issue yet but this is good to know and will test that here at our school.
    thank you

We also experienced some issues with Windows 11 devices authenticating using a certificate.  Bottomline : did not show up on controllers running 8.6.0.17 (version running at hq) but on older versions running some version of release 6.  We found out updating older controllers to the latest 6.5.4.x fixed the issue.  Other controllers (like 650) will need replacing.
