How to recover password on ClearPass policy Manager



A:

Please find the procedure to reset the password,

Recovering CLI (Username: appadmin) 
 
1. Login into CPPM Administration
2. Navigate to "Administration==>Server Manager==>Server Configuration"
3. Click on "Change Cluster Password" link
4. Enter the new password "Change Cluster Password" pop-up.
 
This will set the new CLI password. 
 
B. Recovering UI password (Username : admin):
 
1. Login into CPPM CLI as 'appadmin'
2. Generate the recovery key by executing the command  "system gen-recovery-key"
3. Generate the recovery key and contact Aruba Support for recovery password
4. Login into CPPM CLI via console (ssh not allowed) as 'apprecovery' user and use the password se
5. Execute "app reset-passwd" command.
 
This will reset UI and CLI passwords to factory defaults (eTIPS123). 
 
C. Recovering both CLI and UI passwords, if both CLI and GUI to the server are inaccessible:
 
1. Reboot the appliance
2. During the boot process, a prompt will be displayed to choose an option "Generate support keys"
3. Select option "1" to generate the password recovery key
4. Generate the recovery key and contact support for recovery password.
5. Login into CPPM CLI via console (ssh not allowed) as 'apprecovery' user and use the password [4]
6. Execute "app reset-passwd" command.
 
This will reset UI and CLI passwords to factory defaults (eTIPS123).
