Ok, I know that Central (this is Central 2.5) does not currently support that option (which is maddening BTW). What you need to do is default the switch and then bring it in fresh to a UI group. Unfortunatly, this doesnt seem to work either.
Here is the process I am doing to move the switch from a Template Group to a UI group:
- Remove the Subscription in Central
- Delete the switch from Central (Global\Devices\Switches)
- At the CLI run "erase startup-config"
- Let the switch restart
- Verify switch gets an address and DNS from DHCP
- Add the Subscription back to the switch in Central
- Create a new UI Group for the switch and add the switch to that UI Group
- At the CLI run "activate provision force"
- Check to see that the switch is synching properly in Central – it’s not
It comes up with a failed push with the error [{"/stacking/vsf/global_confg":4}]
It's odd that it would have any sort of stacking error as the switch is defaulted (so not in a stack) and the UI group is new - there is no stacking config in the group. I have tried this with multiple JL258a (2930f 8 port)
