    Hello!

We use aruba central and aruba activate.
Central synchronizes all Devices from activate - thats ok.

Now, as we use the MSP View, we also thougth to organize our activate accounts into folder, to devide our customers devices into folders.

But this causes a deletion of devices with already assigned subscriptions.
In the central audit trail we see, that at the next activate sync after we moved the devices from the default to a customer folder in activate, the devices get first disconected and then deleted.
If we trie to manually add them to central again, the devices are "locked".

This thread says, that all devices of an activate account would synced to central, but what I see is the opposite of this statement.

Can somebody confirm, that only activate devices which resides in the default folder will get synced into central?
Or clarify the behavior of activate/central sync of devices in custom folders?

    Thank you!

    Hello!

We checked the behaviour on our own.

    • If the device resides in the activate default folder, it will be synchronized with central
    • If you move the devices to an custom activate folder, the devices will be removed from your central account at the next synchronization
    • If you move the devices back to the default activate folder, they will show up again in central after the next synchronization
    • If you assign a device to a customer in central MSP View, the devices will be automatically moved to a autogenarted folder in activate. You can add a description (e.g. end customers name)
    • If you move the MSP devices from the auto generated folder to a custom folder, they will be disconnected and deletet from central. Central licenses will be unassigned again.

The activate user guide contains a release note from 2016, that the provisioning rule "IAP to Central" was removed.
But there is no exact description of the sync behaviour, as we tested it.
Is there a official description available?
